LA Galaxy sign David Bingham, Servando Carrasco - sources

Nguyen action vs San Jose 170419
David Bingham lost his job at San Jose last season.

The LA Galaxy have signed goalkeeper David Bingham and midfielder Servando Carrasco to new contracts, multiple sources have told ESPN FC.

The Galaxy acquired Bingham's rights last month from the San Jose Earthquakes in exchange for a combined $200,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) and Targeted Allocation Money.

The Galaxy will send an additional $50,000 to San Jose if Bingham reaches certain incentives. The sources indicated that Bingham signed a two-year deal plus a club option for a third, with the goalkeeper poised to earn around $1 million over the three years.

Bingham, 28, will now be looking forward to what he hopes is a bounce-back season after enduring a difficult 2017 campaign, one in which he lost his starting spot in San Jose to Andrew Tarbell.

Bingham has considerable MLS experience, working as an understudy to Jon Busch for four seasons before securing the starting role in 2015. He played in 96 league matches and received a call-up by the United States during that time, making three appearances.

Carrasco has signed a one-year deal after he was selected in Stage 2 of the MLS Re-entry Draft. He spent parts of the past three seasons with Orlando City -- a period in which he made 58 appearances while scoring one goal and adding four assists.

Carrasco has also spent time with the Seattle Sounders, Houston Dynamo, and Sporting Kansas City.

All told, Carrasco has made 127 league and playoff appearances in his professional career.
