Chiefs lose young forward for up to nine months



Kaizer Chiefs have been dealt a blow in pre-season with the news that promising young forward Emmanuel Letlotlo will miss the next six to nine months after rupturing an anterior cruciate ligament in his knee.

The 21-year-old would have been looking to kick-on in the 2017-18 Premier Soccer League season after some good cameos in the last campaign, but will now spend most if not all of it on the sidelines.

"A report from Kaizer Chiefs' medical team confirms that Emmanuel Letlotlo injured his knee ligament," the club confirms on its website.

"According to the medical report, Letlotlo hurt his knee during training. A scan revealed that Letlotlo ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). He will undergo surgery, which is scheduled for Friday. It means that the talented striker will be out for six to nine months."

Letlotlo made five appearances for Chiefs last season, including two starts in wins over Golden Arrows and Bidvest Wits. He had finished as top scorer in the country's reserve league the campaign before, and is regarded as a hot talent at Naturena.
