Juventus to be subject of new Netflix four-part documentary series

Juventus earned their first points in Group D with a 2-0 win.
Juventus are the reigning Serie A champions.

Juventus are to feature in a four-part documentary produced by Netflix next year after the U.S. entertainment company was granted behind-the-scenes access to the Serie A champions.

The series, which is due to air in early 2018, will consist of four hour-long episodes produced from footage gained from following the Italian club throughout the first half of the season.

"It's a source of pride that Juventus is the first football club to be the subject of a 'Netflix Original Docuseries,'" Juventus co-chief revenue officer Federico Palomba told the club's official website.

"Collaborations of this kind confirm our passion for innovation and being, in every sense, a 'sport entertainment' brand. In this way, we are determined to reach Bianconeri fans across the world and millions of Netflix users, who thanks to this docuseries can get to know Juventus from every angle."

Netflix have been recording fly-on-the-wall footage at Juve's training sessions and matches, with the club saying the documentary will tell "the most compelling, behind-the-scenes stories of the Bianconeri world" and "will take viewers into the more intimate scenes of the players' lives."

Erik Barmack, vice president of international original series at Netflix, added: "Netflix is the home of passionate storytelling, and there are no more passionate fans than those of the Bianconeri. We are excited to have unique, exclusive access to one of the most important squads in the world."

Netflix rival Amazon Prime is reportedly finalising the details of a fly-on-the-wall documentary series about Manchester City.
