Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri: Titles are won with games like this

Massimiliano Allegri said "Scudetti are won via games like this" after Juventus fought back from a goal down to defeat Udinese 2-1 on Saturday.

The visitors had taken a surprise lead through Jakub Jankto in Turin, only for Paulo Dybala to put the five-time defending champions back in control with a free kick followed by a penalty.

Allegri hailed his team's resilience but added that the match was made more difficult by the sudden illness of Miralem Pjanic.

"It was a very complicated match, which we made even more complicated, because we should've taken chances better," Allegri told Sky Sport Italia.

"We lost a player every day, including two this morning, but Scudetti are won via games like this and we approached it the right way.

"I haven't thought about Tuesday's match [at Lyon] yet. Miralem Pjanic was meant to play today, but felt ill this morning, so I had to make changes."

In addition to Pjanic's absence, Juventus were also without Sami Khedira and Claudio Marchisio, who are now fit enough to make the bench but did not feature on Saturday.

Allegri said the changes forced his squad to use two different formations, depending on whether they were in control of the ball.

"I would like the team to be able to transform system during the match, depending on how the opposition is set out and at different times of the game," he said.

"If they manage to do that, even without their coach telling them to, it'll mean they've reached a level of maturity to take on any team.

"We work on how to occupy the spaces, reading the game and doing the opposite of what the opponent does. We changed things in the second half and took away the reference points from Udinese.

"It was decidedly better than the first half, we moved between the lines and created many more chances. We should've scored a third goal.

"We were with 4-4-2 without the ball, moving to 3-5-2 in possession."

Allegri also said he was not worried about the form of Gigi Buffon, who had a howler while playing for Italy against Spain last week, after the goalkeeper failed to stop Jankto's low shot.

"Absolutely not. Gigi plays 50 games per year, he can make half a mistake every now and then," Allegri said. "Let's just say he helped spark us into life with the opening Udinese goal. He then saved the victory with a fantastic block on the Felipe header."
