Massimiliano Allegri 'counting' on Paul Pogba to stay at Juventus this summer

Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri hopes reported interest from Manchester United in Paul Pogba comes to nothing, but would welcome the arrival of Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli.

Pogba, 23, has been linked with a £105 million world record transfer back to United after developing into one of the world's top players since leaving Old Trafford in 2012.

But Allegri hopes he will see the France midfielder return to preseason training on Aug. 7 alongside countryman Patrice Evra.

"The France internationals will return on August 7. Both Evra and Pogba? They are both Juventus players and I hope they will stay," Allegri told reporters. "I am counting on Pogba."

Meanwhile, Allegri was more positive about the potential arrival of Higuain from Napoli and believes the Argentina international could help Juventus sustain the success that has seen them win five Serie A titles in a row.

He said: "Higuain? Great players are always welcome. We need champions with a lot of quality to compete at the highest level."
