Juventus' Massimiliano Allegri to get new deal, improved squad - Marotta

Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri is to sign a new two-year contract this week and he will have an even stronger squad to work with next season, according to the Turin-based club's general manager Beppe Marotta.

The Bianconeri's fifth straight Serie A title was confirmed on Monday when their nearest rivals Napoli were beaten 1-0 by Roma.

With a 12-point advantage with just three games of the season to go, Juve can no longer be caught this season and their rivals are going to have a challenge trying to bridge that gap next season too with Marotta promising further investment in the squad, starting with a new contract for Allegri.

"It's a marriage which is going well, with both sides absolutely satisfied," Marotta told Mediaset television. "We're going to continue with him and renew his contract for two years. We'll do that this week, but it's merely a formality.

"Next year we want to be protagonists in the Champions League, even though you need luck to win that competition. We didn't have as much luck with the draw this year as we had last year, but we were only 90 seconds away from going through, yet we then got knocked out.

"We do have regrets, when you think that Manchester City are in the semifinals and we beat them twice in the group stage. It's not going to be easy to find better players on the market to the ones we've already got, but we want to be competitive again next season both in Italy and in Europe."

Given the way they recovered from one of the worst starts to a season in the club's history, still to win the Scudetto with three games to spare, once again reaffirms that Juventus are more than just competitive in Italy.

However, Marotta never for one second doubted that his side would clinch a fifth straight Italian league title, even if no club in history had ever won the league from the position they were in after ten games of the season.

"We only had 12 points after ten games, which is incredible," he said. "But we were never desperate."

With 24 wins from their next 25 games, Juventus climbed the standings and, with a 25-point turnaround over Roma and 21 points overturned with respect to Napoli, they took the title on Monday.

"Everybody was ready to celebrate our funeral, but instead... we've simply written history!" wrote their president Andrea Agnelli on Twitter.

Speaking in Florence after Juve's 2-1 defeat of Fiorentina on Sunday, Allegri, quoted in the Gazzetta dello Sport, confirmed his imminent renewal.

"My contract signing will happen later this week," Allegri said.

"There will be a few days to wait as tomorrow is a holiday. I share the club's ideas and Juve are doing well and building for the future."

On Juve's potential transfer market activities, Allegri promised to invest in youth while ensuring the club's best talent -- including the likes of France midfielder Paul Pogba -- is retained.

He added: "Our ambitions for next season? I'm not sure how many new players we will buy but they will have to be young and possess great potential.

"We want to keep Pogba here, for sure, as we have to believe we can go on to win the Champions League with players like him on board."
