Juventus' Mario Mandzukic faces month out with torn muscle

Mario Mandzukic's first half strike ensured Juventus of passage to the Champions League last 16.
Mario Mandzukic will be unable to face his former club Bayern Munich next month.

Juventus forward Mario Mandzukic will be sidelined for a month after tearing a muscle on Wednesday, while Kwadwo Asamoah was also hurt in the Coppa Italia win over Inter.

The Serie A club said Mandzukic has a torn muscle in his hip after undergoing tests on Friday.

Asamoah is injured again after tearing his right thigh muscle and will miss two to three weeks.

A series of setbacks has limited the Ghanaian midfielder to just four league appearances this season, though he started and played all 90 minutes against Inter.

They are both set to miss a key match against Serie A leaders Napoli on Feb. 13, and Mandzukic will be forced to sit out the first leg of the Champions League round-of-16 clash with his former club Bayern Munich on Feb. 23.
