Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri coy on rumoured Oscar interest

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri refused to answer questions regarding the Bianconeri's rumoured interest in Chelsea midfielder Oscar.

The four-time defending Serie A champs were reportedly interested in bringing the Chelsea midfielder to Turin this summer. With the winter transfer window fast approaching, the speculation has since been renewed.

Speaking to reporters after Juventus' 4-0 defeat of Torino in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday, the former AC Milan boss refused to tip his hand when questioned about a reported bid for the 24-year-old Brazil international, who has struggled for a regular XI place at Stamford Bridge this season.

"The English tabloids write a lot of things!" Allegri replied. "Juventus have an excellent squad, the club will evaluate if there's anything to be done. If we do sign anyone, he has to be worthy of Juventus.

"There's no point just signing someone for the sake of it, he has to fit into the project and be at the same level as these players."

Allegri quickly shifted focus to matters on the field, mainly The Old Lady's upcoming Serie A match with Carpi as Juventus look to win their seventh straight league contest.

"Now let's focus on the game with Carpi, who in my view have the quality and characteristics to stay in Serie A, from Marco Borriello to Gabriel Silva and Luca Marrone," Allegri said.

"I think they are underestimated and so on Sunday it will be very difficult for us. It's also an early kickoff, which is strange for us, and winning away is never easy in Serie A."
