Patrice Evra discovers egg allergy undetected at Manchester United

Doctors at Juventus have discovered that Patrice Evra has an allergy to eggs -- a problem never detected during his days at Manchester United.

Evra told BBC Radio 5 live's European football podcast that the medical team at the Serie A club had diagnosed the allergy, which he said had caused him to vomit.

The 34-year-old said: "When I came here they said I'm allergic to eggs, and I ate them every day in Manchester. I was vomiting in training at first.

"I went to the hospital and they told me I had been playing with an ulcer and I was lucky it was not bleeding inside."

Evra said his move to Italy had made him look at football in a different way, despite the experience he had gained during his years of success at Old Trafford.

"I have learned a lot -- how to be more professional, even if I was professional in Manchester," the full-back said.

"Here in Italy, football is more like a chess game. You have to think about every move."

The Frenchman has made 30 Serie A appearances for Juventus and missed only here games this season, one of those because of suspension.

He featured in his third Champions League final in June, when Juve were beaten by Barcelona.
