Juventus insist they have 33 Serie A titles and not 31, says Beppe Marotta

Juventus are back on collision course with the Italian sports authorities after insisting that they have won 33 Serie A titles and not 31.

The Bianconeri wrapped up the 2014-15 title on Saturday with four games of the season remaining. Officially, it is their 31st championship since the titles they won in 2005 and 2006 were revoked for their involvement in the Calciopoli match-manipulation scandal.

Although they won those titles on the field, they were found guilty of seeking and gaining advantages from referees to do so and, as a result, were relegated to Serie B. However, they continue to insist that those trophies should be theirs and the club has made it clear they will continue their fight for them.

"We have a legal argument open," said Juve's general manager Beppe Marotta. "It's still an open wound. Let's not forget that the decisions of [federal judge Stefano] Palazzi were very unjust and damning.

"We're still waiting for precise sentencing. Our solicitors are working on bringing the truth to light."

The number 33 is already showing on the club's website as well as at the training ground and the Juventus Stadium. As far as the president of the Italian Olympic Committee Giovanni Malago is concerned, they should accept the justice system's verdict instead.

"Officially, they have won 31 scudettos," he said to reporters at Milan on a visit to EXPO, reports La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I am a man who respects the institutions. Having said this, I've spoken to [Juve president] Andrea Agnelli and paid him my compliments because they have thoroughly deserved a title they have won by a mile, and that's not so easy after a change in coach."
