Juventus could be forced to sell Paul Pogba, Massimiliano Allegri hints

Massimiliano Allegri has tipped Paul Pogba to become the greatest player on the planet, but suggested the France international could be sold in the summer.

Pogba, who is contracted to Juventus until 2019, put in another match-winning display in the 2-0 win over Chievo Verona on Sunday, scoring an impressive opener and creating the second as the Bianconeri extended their lead at the top of Serie A to seven points.

The 21-year-old was attracting enough attention before this weekend, having won the Best Young Player award at the World Cup last summer, and Allegri expects that to grow even further as he recognised the worth of his side's most coveted player.

"To win games, you need to have strong players, otherwise there wouldn't be players worth 100 million euros and others worth five," Allegri said when asked about the player.

Juventus may struggle to keep hold of their prized asset next summer with Allegri admitting an offer in the region of 100 million euros would be hard to turn down.

"Everything has a value in life, unfortunately, and the outstanding players are hard to replace, but things always move on in football," he told Sky Sport Italia. "Of course, Pogba is only 21 and he's got the quality to get even better. For now, let's just enjoy having him. He is destined to become the best player in the world."

Last week, Juve's general manager Beppe Marotta opened up to a sale of the France international, saying there would be an amount they would be unable to refuse, albeit without naming it.

"We will do everything within out limits to hold on to Pogba, but we must not forget Italy is a country in transition," Marotta said. "The problem we have is that of offers coming in from other clubs offering him a salary that we are not able to match due to our financial situation.

"At the moment, there's no reason to believe that Pogba will definitely leave Juventus for another team, but we have to bear in mind that we cannot compete with the wages that are being paid elsewhere. We have our limits."

The player's agent Mino Raiola has been spotted at the club's training ground twice in the past few weeks, although not to discuss an imminent transfer and he insisted there was no chance of a winter sale.

"Paul renewed his contract in Italy. There is a five-year deal with Juventus and what June and July brings, we will see in June and July," he said. "He will stay here this window in Italy and after that it's also up to Juventus and up to himself to see what are the possibilities and what are the things to do.

"Today Paul Pogba is the most expensive player if he would be on the market -- that's the risk, that's normal; there are only a few clubs that can afford him.

"Let's say that I am aware of the interest that there is around Paul, obviously, and without naming them, everybody that knows a little bit about football knows that there are only eight clubs that can afford him. That's the eight clubs that will get into the scramble or the battle to have him."

When asked on how much he feels he is worth, though, Pogba this week said he is "worth zero," while reaffirming his desire to become the world's best one day.
