Jordan Ayew offer made by Aston Villa for Lorient striker - agent

Aston Villa have made an offer for Lorient and Ghana star Jordan Ayew, the player's agent has told ESPN FC.

Villa boss Tim Sherwood is keen to add to his attacking options having sold Christian Benteke to Liverpool earlier this week and he has lined up a deal for the highly rated Ayew.

Ayew impressed for Lorient last season, scoring 12 Ligue 1 goals as he played a key role in helping the club avoid relegation from Ligue 1.

The versatile forward was a member of the Ghana squad at last summer's World Cup finals and helped his nation reach the final of the Africa Nations Cup in January.

Ayew's agent, Mark McKay, has confirmed Villa have made an offer for Ayew and that the player hopes to travel to England for talks and a medical later on Friday.

"Villa have made an offer for Jordan Ayew to Alex Hayes vice-president of Lorient," McKay told ESPN FC.

"We are hoping Jordan will be allowed to travel from Lorient to Birmingham tonight to discuss personal terms.

"Tim Sherwood is an admirer of Jordan and feels he could be a big success in the Premier League."

If Ayew seals a move to Villa he will join older brother Andre in the Premier League after he signed for Swansea City on a free transfer from Marseille earlier this summer.
