Kazuyoshi Miura, Japan's oldest player, agrees new Yokohama FC deal

Yokohama FC have announced that 48-year-old striker Kazuyoshi Miura has agreed to extend his contract with the club.

Former Japan international Miura, whose decade-long international career ended in 2000, has been with Yokohama since 2005.

The second-tier club posted the announcement of their No. 11's new deal on their official website at 11.11 a.m. on Nov. 11.

Miura, nicknamed King Kazu, told Kyodo News: "I'm thankful to the club staff and supporters who always offer me support.

"I'll continue to give everything I have and strive."

Miura, who spent time in Brazil and with Italian side Genoa in the early part of his career, has scored three goals in 16 appearances for second-tier Yokohama FC this season.

He holds the record as the J-League's oldest scorer and oldest player.
