Antonio Conte may get new contract after Euro 2016

Italy are happy to offer Antonio Conte a two-year extension to his contract if he impresses at next summer's European Championship.

The Squadra Azzurra can wrap up qualification for Euro 2016 by beating Azerbaijan on Saturday, otherwise a win over Norway in Rome next Tuesday may be required.

Former Juventus boss Conte will then commence preparations for a tournament at which Italy will hope to bounce back from a disastrous World Cup last year under Cesare Prandelli, when they exited at the group stage.

"We're willing to extend Conte's contract by two years," the president of the Italian Football Association, Carlo Tavecchio, said, according to ANSA.

"Obviously it will depend on what he wants and what conditions present themselves during Euro 2016 -- which we hope to win."

Conte led Juve to three straight Serie A titles before resigning early in preseason training last year.

He was soon appointed as the successor to Prandelli on a two-year contract until the end of Euro 2016, but there have been suggestions in the Italian media that he may look to return to club management.
