Napoli beat Sassuolo to go clear at top; Lazio thrash lowly Benevento

Napoli reinforced their title credentials as they beat Sassuolo 3-1 to go three points clear at the top of the table on Sunday.

Goals from Allan, Jose Callejon and Dries Mertens helped Napoli to a 10th win in 11 matches in what was an eventful game at the Stadio San Paolo.

Diego Falcinelli had equalised for Sassuolo before the home side took control again, with both teams also hitting the woodwork twice.

Lazio took full advantage of their early kick-off to close the gap on Serie A's top two, briefly going level on points with Napoli and Juventus by beating bottom side Benevento, still without a point, 5-1.

The Rome club took a fourth-minute lead through Bastos, and by the midway point of the half were in full control thanks to further goals from Ciro Immobile and Adam Marusic.

Achraf Lazaaar's consolation just after the interval was only Benevento's second goal at home in six matches this season, but Marco Parolo restored Lazio's three-goal cushion and Nani scored their fifth late on.

Sampdoria kept their perfect home record going with a comfortable 4-1 win over Chievo.

Lucas Torreira scored twice for Samp, with Karol Linetty and Duvan Zapata getting the other two and Fabrizio Cacciatore pulling one back for the outplayed visitors.

A solitary strike from Mirco Antenucci was enough to earn SPAL a 1-0 victory over Genoa, who fell into the bottom three as a result.

Crotone secured a 2-1 win over Fiorentina thanks to quickfire strikes from Ante Budimir and Marcello Trotta in the space of just two minutes.

Udinese recovered from a goal down to beat Atalanta 2-1 at home.

The visitors had led through Jasmin Kurtic's strike after 29 minutes, but a Rodrigo De Paul penalty in first-half stoppage time and Antonin Barak's second-half finish turned the game around.

There was also a 2-1 come-from-behind victory at home in the late game for Torino over Cagliari, with Iago Falque and Joel Obi scoring for the hosts after Nicolo Barella's opener.
