Eusebio Di Francesco's Roma move close - Sassuolo general manager

Roma are set to name Eusebio Di Francesco as their new head coach after Sassuolo confirmed that an agreement was imminent.

On Sunday, Sassuolo general manager Giovanni Carnevali said it would be "a matter of a few days" before confirmation was given.

"Di Francesco is going to be Roma's coach soon, we can say that," insideroma.com quoted Carnevali as saying.

"We've met with the Giallorossi management and it is practically a matter of a few days to define it all.

"We didn't have any doubts anyway, considering our excellent relationship with Roma."

Di Francesco spent five years at Sassuolo, leading them into the Europa League in 2015-16 and to a comfortable 12th place last season.

The former Roma player will be attempting to take his new club one better than their second-placed finish last season.

Following Di Francesco's departure, Sassuolo are expected to name their former player Cristian Bucchi as his replacement. He guided Perugia into the Serie B playoffs this season.
