Andrea Barzagli photo was not from the early hours - DJ

The DJ photographed with Andrea Barzagli at the weekend has clarified when the picture was taken in an attempt to put an end to suggestions that the Juventus defender spent Saturday night partying after leaving the Italy squad.

Barzagli, 35, was given permission to leave international duty with Italy following their 2-0 win over Albania on Friday with the Italian FA citing "personal reasons" for his release.

He has been given time off by his club Juventus too and was spotted out with his family at a restaurant in Riccione on Saturday night. A photo of him posing with a DJ was then published on Instagram in the early hours of Sunday morning, leading to claims he was out partying all night.

However, the DJ who posted the photo says that was not the case.

"First of all, I would like to say that Andrea was out for dinner in the same place as me with his wife and his children and it is only right that we are talking about a restaurant where they play light music in the background," DJ Gippo Angelini told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "The second thing, which is very important, is that the photo was taken at 10 p.m., when Barzagli and his family were still dining.

"I posted it on social media a lot later, when I got home from a night at work. Andrea and his family were already at home, sleeping by then."

Barzagli is due to report back for training with the Bianconeri on Monday, a few days ahead of when he would have been back had he remained on international duty. Juve face Napoli in Serie A next Sunday.
