Lega Serie A assembly hit by six-club walkout over television money

Representatives of six clubs walked out of the Lega Serie A assembly on Wednesday in a dispute over television money.

Delegates from AC Milan, Juventus, Inter Milan, Napoli, Roma and Fiorentina all left the meeting of Serie A's governing body.

They believe the distribution of TV money does not take into enough consideration the appeal of their clubs compared with other sides in the top flight.

Milan general manager Adriano Galliani later told reporters: "It's not possible to find a solution and to move on with work.

"We [the six clubs] represent 80 percent of Italian fans. The problem is, as usual, the distribution of television revenue.

"We'll just let the remaining clubs go on by themselves, if they wish to go on. Certainly they won't be able to determine economic questions, because you need 15 votes for that."

The walkout means only 14 clubs remain in the assembly, with at least 15 out of 20 votes are necessary, throwing the organisation into confusion.

Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta, Fiorentina managing director Sandro Mencucci and Roma general manager Umberto Gandini all stood behind Galliani as he spoke to reporters.

Lega Serie A president Maurizio Beretta announced that the assembly had been postponed until March 28.
