Massimo Moratti: Stefano Pioli passion inspired Inter Milan in derby draw

Former Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has paid tribute to new coach Stefano Pioli for his impact on the team in the weekend's Milan derby.

Pioli, who replaced the sacked Frank De Boer, saw his players draw 2-2 in a dramatic match against city rivals AC Milan.

"It seems to me that Pioli has managed to transmit his passion into a team who therefore played with a lot of character," Moratti told reporters.

"It would have been hugely disappointing to lose and also unfair, because we played so well."

Moratti, who relinquished control in 2013, dismissed speculation that he could return to the club one day.

"Absolutely not -- I'm not going to come back to Inter because I've already done all I had to do here," he said.

"For now my future with Inter is as a fan, and I think it is going to stay that way."
