Serie A: Roma thrash Palermo, Inter lose to Atalanta, Napoli win

Roma reinforced their Serie A title credentials with a confident 4-1 home victory over Palermo.

All three members of the dangerous frontline -- Mohamed Salah, Edin Dzeko and Stephan El Shaarawy -- ran riot at the Stadio Olimpico while Leandro Paredes grabbed a fortuitous goal from a free-kick shortly after half-time.

Robin Quaison scored a late consolation for struggling Palermo, who sit in the relegation zone as Roma climb to within two points of leaders Juventus.

Frank de Boer's future as Inter Milan head coach is under serious threat after the Nerazzurri went down 2-1 to Atalanta in Bergamo.

Mauricio Pinilla may have struck a decisive blow against the Dutchman with a match-winning 87th-minute penalty, which Samir Handanovic almost saved, after Davide Santon fouled Franck Kessie. Atalanta had earlier taken the lead through Andrea Masiello before Eder's thunderous shot levelled the scores after the break.

After securing only one point from Inter's last three league matches, De Boer's job was at risk heading into Thursday's Europa League meeting with Southampton, which the Nerazzurri won 1-0 to ease the pressure on their boss.

Yet the familiar strain returned inside 10 minutes of play at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia as Masiello nodded Jasmin Kurtic's assist home at the far post.

Nikola Kalinic grabbed a hat-trick as Fiorentina came from behind to thump Cagliari 5-3.

The hosts took the lead after just two minutes when Davide Di Gennaro headed Nicola Murru's cross home. But Croatia striker Kalinic hauled Fiorentina level when he nodded in Cristian Tello's 20th-minute corner.

Two goals in five minutes from Federico Bernardeschi then turned the game on its head and Kalinic fired the fourth shortly before half-time.

Kalinic completed his hat-trick eight minutes into the second half with another header from another Tello cross. Marco Capuano and Marco Borriello pulled goals back but Fiorentina held on.

Napoli had to play for an hour with 10 men, but still did enough to beat rock-bottom Crotone 2-1.

Striker Manolo Gabbiadini was sent off after 31 minutes for his angry reaction to a challenge from Gianmarco Ferrari. Gabbiadini was on the ground when he kicked out at the defender and was shown a straight red card.

Napoli were already a goal to the good by then thanks to Jose's Callejon's close-range finish in the 17th minute from Dries Mertens' deflected cross. Two minutes after Gabbiadini's rush of blood the visitors doubled their advantage when Nikola Maksimovic stole in inside the six-yard box to tap home a cross from Ivan Strinic.

Adem Ljajic's stoppage-time penalty salvaged a point for Torino from a 2-2 draw with Lazio.

The Serbia forward's third goal in two games denied the Romans victory at the death, after Marco Parolo's handball had gifted Torino the spot-kick. Alessandro Murgia thought his 84th-minute header would win the day for Lazio, who also had former Torino man Ciro Immobile on target at the Olimpico.

Felipe Anderson laid on both Lazio's goals but could not inspire a third win in four matches, as the hosts staged a late comeback.

Iago Falque's header from Davide Zappacosta's cross edged Torino into a 1-0 half-time lead, only for Lazio to strike back, before that last-gasp penalty levelled matters again

Cyril Thereau's double helped Udinese to a 3-1 victory over fellow Serie A strugglers Pescara at Dacia Arena.

The hosts had lost four of their last five matches going into the game but snapped the poor run to leapfrog their opponents into 15th place in the table. Thereau converted a ninth-minute penalty to give Udinese the lead before he doubled his side's advantage in the 71st minute by tucking in a rebound.

Alberto Aquilani hit back three minutes later to set up a tense finale but Colombian forward Duvan Zapata sealed all three points when his slotted in a stoppage-time penalty.

Alessandro Matri's first goal for Sassuolo stole a 1-1 draw at Bologna.

The former AC Milan striker had drawn a blank in his first six appearances since joining Sassuolo in the summer, but his 86th-minute strike claimed a share of the spoils here.

Hosts Bologna had led 1-0 at half-time thanks to Simone Verdi's fourth league goal in nine appearances this term.

Verdi's neat free kick strike continued to separate the sides for the majority of the contest, until 32-year-old Matri plundered the late equaliser.

Goal-shy Empoli drew a sixth consecutive blank in grinding to a 0-0 stalemate with Chievo.
