Arkadiusz Milik in dreamland as Montella rues AC Milan implosion

Poland striker Arkadiusz Milik said he felt he was dreaming after scoring twice on his Napoli home debut.

Milik scored twice in the opening 33 minutes as Napoli beat nine-man Milan 4-2 in an incident-packed Serie A clash on Saturday night.

"I was dreaming of scoring at my debut at the San Paolo, I'm really happy," Milik said after the match.

"Scoring was wonderful, but scoring twice was almost a dream. Now I hope to pursue this path for our fans who were so excited.

"The feeling with the San Paolo was amazing since the very beginning, everybody gave their support and I would like to thank my team for their high drive."

Milik joined from Ajax earlier this month for a reported transfer fee of €35 million.

But the 22-year-old has some prodigious scoring boots to fill as Gonzalo Higuain managed 36 league goals for Napoli before joining Juventus for £75.3 million.

Asked if he felt pressure succeeding Higuain in the Napoli front line, Milik replied: "No, I don't.

"I just think to play a good match and give my all, we are at the beginning of the season and I want to do my best with the Azzurri's jersey.

"I hope to show all my qualities.

"In the first half we performed an almost a perfect game, we were willing to redeem our match against Pescara [where Napoli drew their opening game 2-2].

"In the second half we reacted promptly after they scored two goals.

"We had many attempts and deserved this stunning success."

Milan fought back bravely after Milik's double strike, M'Baye Niang and Suso producing stunning individual goals within 10 minutes of the restart.

But Jose Callejon restored Napoli's lead after 74 minutes and Milan imploded as Juraj Kucka and Niang were both sent off after picking up their second yellow cards.

Alessio Romagnoli's comical own goal in stoppage time completed an evening which had turned sour.

"We gave [away] two red cards," Milan coach Vincenzo Montella told Premium Sport.

"I do not accept continuing protests towards referees, although there are episodes that may seem negative.

"When we were nine that was a mountain to climb.

"I'm bitter after a performance like that because you can not go home with no points.

"In the first 20 minutes we were superior to Napoli, then after the goal we were lazy and less confident.

"But in the second half we had a great reaction, and the goal now is to bring the team to play well for 90 minutes."
