Edin Dzeko glad he chose Roma over Serie A rivals Juventus

Edin Dzeko says he has no regrets about snubbing Juventus to join Roma this summer as he sees a better chance of winning the Serie A title with the Giallorossi this season.

Dzeko, 29, revealed in La Gazzetta dello Sport that he had been in talks with the Bianconeri before opting for Roma, who have an 11-point advantage over their rivals.

The Bosnia-Herzegovina forward hopes they will be able to maintain that gap until the end of the season -- even if it means he does not score a single goal between now and May, and even if his nation fail to qualify for Euro 2016.

"It's true, I did have contact [with Juve] but now I'm delighted to be here," Dzeko said. "I knew that I'd chosen a great club, but the season's still long and all that matters is being top at the end of it.

"From this point of view, our game against Inter [Milan, on Saturday] is not yet decisive, even if it's an important game. Whoever wins it will gain a lot of belief, which is why I'm not even contemplating losing. There is no real favourite this season. There are us, Inter, Napoli, Fiorentina and also Juve. They're still a big club and will recover."

Dzeko has scored just one goal in Serie A this season, and that came against Juventus in the second round of matches. Since then, he has drawn a blank six times in the league, but he insists this drought is not getting him down.

"I would gladly go without goals [to win the Scudetto]," he said. "I'm willing to keep this drought going to the end of the season because winning the title has not happened here for a long time and it would even be more important than qualifying for the European Championship with Bosnia.

"I've already played in a World Cup so if we lose to Ireland and don't go to France, it would only be our own fault anyway."

Of his departure from Manchester City to Roma in the summer, Dzeko added: "I wanted to come here. Otherwise I wouldn't have done it.

"As a boy, Italy was the best country in the world for football and I wanted to give it a go here. Of course new stadiums would help the game grow here, like they did in Germany and England.

"I don't have any problem with [City manager Manuel] Pellegrini. I didn't get a real chance and I realised that there was no future to our relationship."
