Roma's Radja Nainggolan taunts Serie A rivals Juventus on Twitter

Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan has taunted Juventus fans after saying it was easy to turn down a move to Turin.

Speaking to Indonesian media before returning to Italy after a preseason tour with Roma, Nainggolan, 27, said he was always convinced he had made the right decision by joining the Giallorrossi, even if Juve had made a bid for him.

"It's always better to win once with Roma than 10 times with Juventus," he said, reports Roma's official website.

That did not go down well with some Juve fans, who abused Nainggolan on Twitter. Not for the first time, Nainggolan responded, resulting in a slanging match in which the Belgian revealed that he turned down lucrative bids from the Bianconeri to join Roma.

He responded to further provocation about Juve reaching the Champions League final and not losing 7-1 in the group stage by saying "in the end you didn't get any more [out of the Champions League] than we did."

He concluded by inviting Juve fans to "focus on their own club's business now rather than abusing me."

Nainggolan joined Roma permanently this summer after they bought the other half of his registration from relegated Cagliari.

"I had several offers a few years ago, but I opted for Roma," he said. "The first six months went well, just like the season which ended in May.

"I believe in this project and in this team. I don't think it's necessary to go to illustrious clubs to win trophies. I'm at a big club and I want to [win trophies] with the Giallorossi.

"I always wanted to stay here and I'm delighted to do so. I've extended my contract by five years and I'm delighted because it shows the club have faith in me and I hope to pay them back with my best performances, and to be able to win something as soon as possible."

That is not going to be easy, according to former Juventus defender Fabio Cannavaro, who says Roma paid the price last season for arguing off the field rather than on it.

"Garcia has now understood that you should only talk at the end of the season," said the World Cup winner to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"Last year, Roma spent more time arguing with Juve in the papers than playing. "Roma are not going to repeat those same errors again."
