Fiorentina's Giuseppe Rossi relishing new Paulo Sousa regime

Giuseppe Rossi says he is looking forward to working with Paulo Sousa at Fiorentina as he set his sights on returning to action at a preseason tournament in the United States, the country where he was born.

The Italy international is set for a comeback after missing last season with a serious knee problem.

He told Bleacher Report: "We've just got a new coach, so that's something where we're going to talk about our objectives [in preseason].

"One step at a time. Paulo Sousa has a lot of experience, and he knows what it takes to win. He won with Basel last year so it's an exciting time for us.

"As a collective in the past three years, we've done tremendous work with our style of play, which has been rated one of the best in Serie A.

"I think we're fun to watch. That's what everyone says around Europe. We're going to try and bring that fun to watch style over here to the U.S."

The Viola are taking part in the International Champions Cup, which will also include Manchester United, Chelsea, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Benfica.

Club America, LA Galaxy, San Jose Earthquakes and New York Red Bulls complete the bill for the event, which starts on Saturday.

American-born Rossi said: "[It's the] first time I'm playing in America since I left. This is so special for me because I'm back home playing."

Fiorentina's first game comes in Harrison, New Jersey -- 15 miles from his hometown of Teaneck -- and he added: "This is the first time my family and friends can actually see me play at a professional level back home."
