Inter Milan owner Thohir brushes aside criticism from Milan's Berlusconi

Inter Milan president Erick Thohir says he will let his club's actions do the talking after criticism from AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi.

Berlusconi has said he doubts that the Inter's owner would ever lead the Nerazzurri back to their glory days.

Berlusconi, who is on the verge of selling his club to foreign investors, told Telenord that Thohir "does not seem to have the intention of or even seem capable of distributing the capital in a way that Inter can be a leading club in Italy or Europe."

He added: "I don't like teams like Inter who have 10 foreigners and one beast -- Andrea Ranocchia."

Ranocchia has responded to Berlusconi humorously by posting a picture of him on Twitter, after Inter won 2-1 at Lazio on Sunday, with a frog's head, saying "three important points!! A night for beasts!!!" but Thohir is not going to rise to Berlusconi's provocation.

"There's no problem," he told Indonesian newspaper Tempo. "I don't have to reply to everything. I've been branded a Filippino in the past, but then [Sampdoria president Massimo] Ferrero apologised for it.

"Words are not important, it's hard work which reaps tangible rewards. I'm delighted to work and I don't want to speak about other people's opinions. Results are the best answers you can give in sport."

Those results are slowly starting to arrive too with Inter up to eighth in Serie A with three games to go, just two points behind a place in the Europa League next season thanks to a seven-game unbeaten run which includes four wins.

They host Juventus at the weekend before travelling to Genoa, who are a point above them, a week later for what could prove to be a decisive fixture.

"We can still make the Europa League, considering the way we played against Lazio and the seriousness the team is showing," Thohir said.
