Roberto Donadoni to stay at Parma

Donadoni took over at Parma in 2012.

Parma club administrator Pietro Leonardi has confirmed that coach Roberto Donadoni will remain in charge of the team next season.

The Italian coach has been strongly linked with a move away from the Tardini stadium this summer after the club were denied a UEFA licence to compete in next season's Europa League.

"Donadoni is under contract with Parma,'' Leonardi said to Parma TV. "He needed time to reflect but on Saturday morning he told me that he had thought about it and that he was very happy to stay at Parma.

"There is nothing more to add. The reality is that the coach and the players, including Antonio Cassano, want to stay and earn on the pitch what has been taken away from us.''

Donadoni, who is under contract with the Gialloblu side until June 2015, led Parma to finish sixth in Serie A and clinch the last Europa League qualifying spot.

However, Parma were not granted a UEFA licence due to financial irregularities, leaving Torino, who finished one point and one place behind them, to take the Gialloblu's place in next season's Europa League.

Leonardi also denied the Ducale club are looking to sell their top stars this summer.

"I hear rumours that we have sold [Marco] Parolo, [Gabriel] Paletta, [Jonathan] Biabiany,'' Leonardi said. "But if we had, how come they are still here?

"The fact that they haven't left is because Parma will only sell players if the financial offers we get satisfy us."
