Under-pressure AC Milan coach Clarence Seedorf has been backed by former Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti, who hailed the Dutchman's qualities.

Paul: Milan miss out

Seedorf's future remains uncertain after the Rossoneri missed out on a place in Europe for the first time in 16 years.

But Moratti believes the former Inter and Milan midfielder has done a good enough job to stay in the hotseat, telling Sky Sport Italia: "I hope he remains with Milan.

"I don't mean that as an Interista because it could be misinterpreted -- what I mean is that he has the quality that can emerge bit by bit. I rate him, but I don't want to influence their choices.

"I remember when he was playing for us, and I remember his personality. He still has lots of fans at Inter, and I admire him as a person. I hope he can do well."

Seedorf returned the compliment, saying: "I've got a great relationship with him. I spent two-and-a-half years with Inter, and I was very happy there. You can change clubs in football, but you never lose those interpersonal relationships."

Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has announced that a decision on Seedorf's future will be made after a board meeting later this month.
