Gattuso would like to coach AC Milan

Gennaro Gattuso has his sights fixed on becoming AC Milan coach in the future after doubts about Clarence Seedorf's future in charge of the club resurfaced in the Italian media.

• Paul: Milan roll on in chase for Europe

Gattuso, 36, is keen on a return to the dugout, in spite of an ill-fated stint with current Serie B leaders Palermo at the start of the season.

The former Milan and Italy midfielder -- who began his management with a short stint at Swiss side Sion -- claims to have turned down several offers already, and appears to be waiting for a call from the Rossoneri.

"I've decided to stay where I am, also not to uproot my children from school," Gattuso said at a book presentation. "But I am missing coaching a lot. I decided to start from the bottom and work my way up, but I would not mind returning to Milan one day. I was happy there and they are the side I supported since I was a child."

That opportunity could arise in the not too distant future with Seedorf again on the verge of being dismissed, according to reports in Italy.

General manager Adriano Galliani skipped a scheduled meeting with the coach -- and the media -- on Tuesday, fuelling speculation that his relationship with the Dutchman is deteriorating.

1-0 win over Catania at the weekend has done little to quell speculation, however, with Tuttosport suggesting that divisions have formed in the dressing room.

Even finishing fifth and qualifying for the Europa League may not be enough to save Seedorf's job, even if that was the objective he was set when he arrived in January.

Gattuso, however, believes his former teammate -- with whom he won two Champions Leagues and two Serie A titles -- is already having a positive impact.

"It's not right to question him," said the 36-year-old. "He had the courage to accept this situation a few months ago, and now things are finally starting to work."
