Lazio midfielder Hernanes is on the verge of becoming an Inter Milan player with Nerazzurri president Erick Thohir expected to complete the deal while on a business trip to Rome.

The Brazil international has already left the Italian capital after bidding farewell to his teammates. A deal believed to be in the region of 15 million euros is reported to have been reached between the two Serie A sides with an official announcement expected during Thohir’s trip.

The Inter chief is understood to have struck a deal after meeting with Lazio president Claudio Lotito in Milan on Wednesday.

News of the agreement was met with disapproval by Biancocelesti fans, who protested against the sale of one of their star players.

On Wednesday night, Lotito denied that the 28-year-old would be leaving the club, telling RadioRadio: "I've not sold Hernanes and I have no intention of selling him.

"We're going to keep a tight hold on him. If he wants to leave Lazio, then he will have to tell us, but we haven't put him up for sale."

However, with Lazio and Inter continuing to finalise the deal, Hernanes was seen driving away from the club's Formello training ground with tears in his eyes after informing his teammates of the move.

Meanwhile, Inter have completed the signing of Danilo D'Ambrosio from Torino.

"I've come a long way and this is a dream," he told the club’s official website.

D'Ambrosio becomes Thohir’s first signing since taking over as Inter president.
