AC Milan announce boardroom changes

AC Milan have confirmed a board restructuring with Adriano Galliani and Barbara Berlusconi sharing responsibility for the day-to-day running of the club.

Regardless of his recent problems and even after he leaves, Adriano Galliani will always love AC Milan.

• Gladwell: Milan's first lady

Galliani tendered his resignation at the end of November only to be talked around by club president Silvio Berlusconi, whose daughter Barbara had been pushing for changes to be made. Those changes have now been ratified, but Galliani remains.

He has been named as deputy vice-president and general manager with responsibility for the sporting aspects, including transfer activities, while Berlusconi has been named vice-president and general manager with responsibility for all other business aspects which do not fall under Galliani's brief.

"AC Milan announces that the Board of Advisors, who met today, have unanimously approved the new club organisation," a statement on the Serie A club's website said. "The members' roles, powers and authorities have been redefined."

Silvio Berlusconi's son Paolo has been confirmed as another vice-president while all the other advisors were also confirmed in their positions.

Earlier in the day, Galliani said he would have no problems working together with Barbara, who had appeared intent on forcing his departure.

"Milan belongs to Silvio Berlusconi and I am totally open to collaborate with Barbara Berlusconi, who was born on the very same day as me, July 30, albeit quite a few years later," he said.

"I've seen her grow up since birth. There's no problem whatsoever."
