Samir Handanovic admits costly mistake

Inter Milan goalkeeper Samir Handanovic says he was to blame for the Nerazzurri's latest failure to pick up all three points in a Serie A game after the 3-3 draw with Parma on Sunday.

Samir Handanovic has replaced Julio Cesar as Inter Milan's No. 1
Samir Handanovic was at fault against Parma.

Wilson: Disappointing draw

Inter have yet to win since Erick Thohir became the club's new president last month after buying out Massimo Moratti's majority stake.

Three consecutive draws have seen Walter Mazzarri's side drop off the pace with four points now separating them from third-place Napoli, who will be their next opponents on Dec. 15, before Inter host AC Milan a week later.

The draw at home to Parma was the latest disappointment after draws with Bologna and Sampdoria, and the Slovenia international has assumed the responsibility.

"I wanted to prevent a corner, but the ball slipped away from me," he told Sky Italia. "It's something which could happen to anybody."

The former Udinese player gifted Parma their second goal on the stroke of half-time, allowing them to take a 2-1 lead into the interval.

Although the Nerazzurri turned the game around with two goals in as many minutes from Rodrigo Palacio and Fredy Guarin, Nicola Sansone's second of the game three minutes later earned Parma a point.

"I compromised our game and I'm sorry for it," Handanovic said. "A win would have been important today. We need to improve because we're conceding too much. We need to be more ruthless in front of our own goal and the whole team needs to do better."

Mazzarri refused to point the finger at Handanovic, but did admit that luck was not on Inter’s side at present.

"I think there should have been a clear penalty for us against [Ricardo] Alvarez -- it was a clear push as he was defending the ball," he said. "Maybe these incidents will start going for us soon because one bit of luck can change the game."
