Nedved not worried about Conte future

Juventus adviser and board member Pavel Nedved says he has no concerns about the future of coach Antonio Conte, who recently signed a contract until 2015 with the Bianconeri.

Conte has won back-to-back Serie A titles in his two years in charge, extending his contract by two years in the summer to become the league’s best-paid coach. However, not even that has brought an end to rumours surrounding his future.

Conte recently expressed his displeasure in losing Emanuele Giaccherini and Alessandro Matri to Sunderland and AC Milan respectively, leading to rumours of a rift between the coach and his club’s management.

Nedved says the speculation is unfounded, however, and that nobody within the club has any doubts about Conte’s commitment, and now is not the time to discuss his future anyway.

“There’s always some idiot around saying something, but I think there is great harmony between Antonio and the club and I can’t see any problem,” Nedved told Sky Sport 24. “It’s not right that you come into a season with important challenges like the league and the Champions League thinking that the coach could leave.

“We need to focus on our work and then it’s normal that at the end of the year, you sit around a table. We did that last year and we’ll do it again, and then we’ll evaluate things -- what the coach wants, what the club want.

“There’s no fear, we’re all totally relaxed, aware that we are really strong and that we can do really well on all fronts.”

At a recent press conference, Conte was critical of the sale of Matri to Milan, saying it strengthened a rival while weakening his side. However, the club’s general manager Beppe Marotta has played down the coach’s remarks, saying the issue has been dealt with internally.

“It wasn’t anything controversial, but rather Conte was using a forthright method of communication to keep everybody on their toes,” he told Tuttosport. “We know him well and we’re delighted to have him.”
