Parma chief expects Cassano arrival
Inter Milan striker Antonio Cassano will join Parma “by the weekend'', according to Gialloblu president Tommaso Ghirardi.
Cassano, 30, has been in Milan for two years having played for Inter last season and their city rivals in 2011-12, but now looks likely to move on as part of a swap deal that will take forward Ishak Belfodil to the Nerazzurri.
“I'm optimistic that by the weekend we will have done a deal for Cassano,” Parma chief Ghirardi told La Repubblica Sport. “This is an important deal for Parma and we still haven't come to terms with the kind of name we're talking about signing.
“There's confidence from Cassano's people and in our communications with Inter. When we can announce the signing of Cassano we will know we have signed a champion and reinforced the team. Our ambitions are much higher than they have been in the past.''
Former Roma and Real Madrid man Cassano scored eight goals in all competitions during a difficult 2012-13 campaign for Inter, who finished 9th in Serie A - just one place ahead of Parma.
