Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira out for two months with thigh injury

Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira will miss the start of the season with his new club.

Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira is set to spend two months on the sidelines after sustaining a thigh injury.

Khedira, who joined the club from Real Madrid this summer, sustained the injury while chasing the ball during the 2-0 friendly defeat to Marseille at the weekend.

A statement on Juve's official website read: "Sami Khedira will be sidelined for approximately two months after medical examinations revealed a second-grade myotendinous tear of the rectus femoris muscle in his right thigh.

Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini upbeat despite preseason losses

ESPN FC's Shaka Hislop and Alexis Nunes talk about Stevan Jovetic joining Inter Milan on loan from Manchester City on an 18 month loan.

Roberto Mancini said Inter Milan's poor preseason results are "irritating" but stressed that the games had still given him cause for optimism ahead of the new season.

Inter fell to a 1-0 defeat to Mancini's former club Galatasaray on Sunday, extending their run of preseason defeats to four.

They have also failed to score a single goal in the games, against Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Real Madrid and Galatasaray, despite heavy investment in the squad this summer.

Schalke boss will fight to keep Juventus target Julian Draxler

Juventus will have to find another replacement for Arturo Vidal; Schalke 04's manager confirmed the winger will remain at the club.

Schalke coach Andre Breitenreiter says he would fight to keep Juventus target Julian Draxler at the club but told Bild there are no guarantees if a "brutal offer" comes in.

Draxler's agent indicated last month that the midfielder had agreed to join Juve, but the two clubs were some distance apart in their valuation of the 21-year-old and, after the Italian side made an opening offer reported to be worth just €15 million up front, Schalke ended talks over a potential sale

Yohan Benalouane: Leicester City €8m offer too big for Atalanta to turn down

Yohan Benalouane played 27 times in Serie A for Atalanta last term, helping the Bergamo club avoid relegation to Serie B.

Yohan Benalouane has sent a message to Atalanta fans after agreeing a move to Leicester City, saying he has done it for the good of the Serie A club.

Benalouane, 28, revealed that Leicester have paid €8 million to sign him on a four-year contract and said he had no choice but to accept, although he insists he would have preferred to have stayed in Bergamo.

"I couldn't say anything before it was all sealed, but now there is something I wanted to say," the Tunisian defender told the Bergamopost....
