AC Milan ease past Spezia

Keisuke Honda celebrates his first AC Milan goal.
Keisuke Honda celebrates his first AC Milan goal.

New AC Milan coach Clarence Seedorf was in the stands as the Rossoneri beat Spezia 3-1 in the Coppa Italia round of 16.

Marcotti: Seedorf born ready

Mauro Tassotti -- who played for the club for 17 years and has been on the coaching staff for over a decade -- led Milan on Wednesday evening following the dismissal of Massimiliano Allegri, but Seedorf watched on as new signing Keisuke Honda scored on his first start for the club.

Robinho put the hosts ahead with just under half an hour played, heading home Giampaolo Pazzini’s cross, and Pazzini then volleyed home to double their lead three minutes later.

Shortly after the restart, Honda got his first goal following his move from CSKA Moscow, firing home the rebound after Riccardo Montolivo’s shot had been saved. Nicola Ferrari grabbed an injury-time consolation for the Serie B team.

Napoli had to come from behind to see off Atalanta 3-1 at home, only finishing the job once the visitors had been reduced to 10 men.

Giuseppe De Luca opened the scoring after 13 minutes, but Jose Maria Callejon almost immediately replied.

Napoli did not get their noses in front until Lorenzo Insigne scored in the 72nd minute and, after Mario Yepes saw a second yellow card three minutes later, Callejon's second settled it.

Second-tier Siena set up a date with Fiorentina in the quarterfinals as they beat Catania 4-1.

Catania -- rock bottom in Serie A -- looked to be on course for a confidence-boosting win after Sebastian Leto scored after just four minutes, but the visitors levelled through Michele Paolucci midway through the first half and Franceso Valiani put Siena ahead with an hour on the clock.

Nico Pulzetti and Lorenzo Rosseti then scored in stoppage time to put the sheen on a shock win.
