Rudi Garcia Roma lost their top-of-the-table showdown with Juve 3-0 on Sunday but beat Sampdoria 1-0 to progress in the cup on Thursday evening.

Vassilis Torosidis' first goal of the season in the sixth minute was enough to get the job done, with Garcia's decision to rest the likes of Gervinho and Francesco Totti carrying no penalty.

The night's other game saw Udinese beat Inter Milan 1-0. Maicosuel's first strike of the season secured the victory 13 minutes before the break.

The remaining quarterfinalists will be discovered on Tuesday and Wednesday next week.
