Nenad Krsticic scores for Sampdoria during their Coppa Italia win against Verona.

Sampdoria secured their first win under coach Sinisa Mihajlovic, thumping Verona 4-1 to progress to the last 16 of the Coppa Italia.

• Inter Milan hold on
• Bologna dumped out

The home side took the lead after 15 minutes through Gianluca Sansone with Birkir Bjarnason adding another five minutes later.

Samuele Longo pulled a goal back for Verona after 64 minutes but Samp wrapped up the victory with goals in the last seven minutes from Nenad Krsticic and Garcia Renand.

Mihajlovic's men will now face another Serie A rival, Roma, in the next round.
