AC Milan is through to the Italian Cup quarterfinals after winning 2-0 at 10-man Sampdoria.

Carlos Bacca inspired AC Milan to a 2-1 victory over Carpi to secure the Rossoneri a place in the Coppa Italia semifinals.

Colombia international Bacca opened the scoring at the San Siro with a rabona-style finish after rounding Carpi goalkeeper Zeljko Brkic.

The former Sevilla striker then assisted M'Baye Niang for Milan's second while Carpi's Matteo Mancosu pulled a consolation back in the second half.

Bacca bagged his 10th Milan goal since his summer move from Spain after 15 minutes in exquisite style.

Keisuke Honda played the ball in behind the Carpi defence before Bacca touched the ball past Brkic and finished from a tight angle with a cheeky effort.

It was almost two for the hosts soon after, but Juraj Kucka's attempt from 15 yards was well saved by Brkic.

Bacca then turned provider with a storming run down the left and a superb cross with the outside of his right foot which Niang coolly finished from close range just before the half-hour mark.

Carpi hit back moments after the break through Mancosu, but much of the good work came from Kevin Lasagna who burst down the right and crossed for the striker to tap home from six yards.

Kucka came close again with a rasping drive which flew over as Milan sought to regain their two-goal cushion, but the hosts had already done enough to secure a last-four place.
