Simone Pepe shines as Juventus struggle past Parma in Coppa Italia

Substitute Alvaro Morata scored the only goal of the game as Juve overcame Parma in the Coppa Italia.

Forty points separate Juventus from Parma in the Serie A table, yet on Wednesday night in the Coppa Italia match, they played on par in what can only be described as the dullest match of the cup thus far.

Once again, Massimiliano Allegri relied upon the 4-3-3 formation in this competition, demonstrating his side's tactical flexibility, but unlike in the match against Hellas Verona, Juventus played a poor game riddled with errors. Disinterested and lethargic, the intensity was lacking while few were...

Alvaro Morata sends Juventus through after struggle against Parma

Alvaro Morata is mobbed after netting the winner.

Substitute Alvaro Morata was the match-winner as his late strike sealed Juventus' progress into the last four of the Coppa Italia at the expense of Parma.

Morata has struggled to find the net this season for the Turin club, but he scored for the sixth time this campaign a minute before the end to see off their stubborn hosts 1-0.

Lazio were victorious on Tuesday night with the final two places to be taken up by the winners of Roma v Fiorentina and Napoli v Inter Milan.

Filippo Inzaghi set to keep AC Milan job despite Coppa Italia exit

The Milan fans are still backing Inzaghi despite a poor run of form.

Filippo Inzaghi is set to keep his job as AC Milan coach in spite of a 1-0 defeat at home to Lazio on Tuesday night which sent the Rossoneri out of the Coppa Italia.

Down in 11th in Serie A, five points behind the top six, Tuesday night's game was viewed by the Italian media as Inzaghi's last chance. Having failed to take it, the pressure has only grown on the 41-year-old, but it appears he is to be given another opportunity.

Sacking Inzaghi would accomplish nothing for Milan

Gabriele Marcotti discusses whether Silvio Berlusconi will attempt to sell his beloved AC Milan in the near future.

The narrative went that if Milan lost to Lazio for a second time in four days on Tuesday night, manager Filippo "Pippo" Inzaghi would lose his job. The first half of that story came true as 10-man Lazio conquered the San Siro with a 1-0 victory, but it appears as though the search for a new coach is on hold for the time being.

The Rossoneri have unsurprisingly been in the spotlight over the past few days, with stories varying over the doubts surrounding Inzaghi's future, to CEO Adriano Galliani's...

Lucas Biglia celebrates his goal at the San Siro.

Lazio piled further pressure on beleaguered AC Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi as they beat the Rossoneri 1-0 in Milan to reach the semifinals of the Coppa Italia, despite playing half the match with only 10 men.

Lucas Biglia scored the only goal from the penalty spot in the 38th minute after a handball from Michelangelo Albertazzi, but the visitors from Rome were down to 10 men when Lorik Cana was shown a second yellow card on the brink of half-time.

Milan tried to rally but Lazio defended well and...
