Sol Campbell on shortlist for Ipswich Town manager's job - sources

Sol Campbell is on the shortlist for the manager's job at Ipswich Town, sources close to the Championship club have told ESPN FC.

Former Tottenham, Arsenal and England defender Campbell is eager to get into management and was linked with the job at League One side Oxford earlier this year.

Ipswich are searching for a new boss after long-serving boss Mick McCarthy quit this month.

Sources have told ESPN FC that Campbell has been recommended to Ipswich owner Marcus Evans, who is expected to hold discussions with him about the job.

A number of names have been linked with the vacancy at Portman Road, with the club expected to interview a number of candidates before making a decision.

Campbell, who retired from playing in 2012, has worked as assistant manager to Dennis Lawrence for the Trinidad and Tobago National team but has yet to take up a solo management post.
