Massimo Moratti: I'm not interested in buying back Inter Milan shares

Massimo Moratti has dismissed reports he could bid for Inter shares.

Former Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has said he has no intention of buying shares in the club after he was linked with a bid for current president Erick Thohir's stake.

Thohir ceded a majority stake to the Suning Group almost 18 months ago but still owns 31 percent of shares.

He is focusing on his position as head of the Indonesian Olympic Committee for the Asian Games, having offered to leave Inter in the summer after taking on that role.

On Wednesday, reports suggested Moratti could bid for Thohir's shares, but he told Italy's ANSA news agency he had "absolutely no intention" of doing so.

"I've already sold him 30 percent of the Nerazzurri, so why would I now want to buy it back?" he added.

Moratti was Inter president from 1995 until 2004 and again from 2006 until 2013, with the club winning five Serie A titles during his second spell.

They sealed an historic Serie A, Coppa Italia and Champions League Treble in 2010 -- their first European Cup for 45 years -- but they have not won any silverware since Moratti relinquished control.
