Mauro Icardi apologises for confrontation with Inter Milan fans
Mauro Icardi has said sorry after he insulted a group of angry Inter Milan fans following the Nerazzurri's 3-1 defeat at Sassuolo on Sunday.
Inter captain Andrea Ranocchia struggled to lead Icardi and Fredy Guarin away when the fans threw their shirts back at them in the aftermath of another setback.
"You're pieces of s---," Icardi yelled at the fans. "You're all pieces of s---."
After ushering the players back to the dressing room, Ranocchia convinced Icardi to apologise, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, which published a video of the incident on its website.
Icardi, who had been named as a substitute by coach Roberto Mancini, scored Inter's consolation after coming on to replace Lukas Podolski.
The 21-year-old is Inter's leading goalscorer this season with 11 goals in 21 appearances, while recent signing Podolski, who joined on loan from Arsenal, has yet to open his account after five appearances.
