Marcelo Brozovic said Frank Lampard is his inspiration as he was presented to the media as an Inter Milan player.

Brozovic became Inter's third signing this winter, after the more high-profile arrivals of Lukas Podolski from Arsenal and Xherdan Shaqiri from Bayern Munich, as he joined on a two-year loan deal from Dinamo Zagreb.

"I'm young and I'm here to grow and mature," the 22-year-old said at his official unveiling at the club's Pinetina training headquarters. "I hope to become a complete player in a few years. My role is at the centre of the midfield and I can also play at the heart of the defence, depending on the tactics."

The Croatian spoke of his admiration for Manchester City midfielder Lampard, saying: "I hope I can become like him.

"Putting on an Inter shirt is something very special and I'm delighted to be in Milan. It's a dream for me to be here. I always wanted to play for Inter, a club with a great tradition."

Despite his admiration for the former England international, Brozovic, who was also linked with Arsenal, said: "I preferred Italian football over the Premier League.

"It's quick and very tactical, and there are plenty of players I already know who are here. I've been training for 20 days and I'm ready for my debut."

That could come when Inter travel to Sassuolo on Sunday lunchtime, with the Nerazzurri desperate to pick up only a second win in six to boost their hopes of playing in Europe again next season.

Brozovic, having already played in Europe for Dinamo, cannot appear in the Europa League for his new club this season.
