Obi attracting Premier League interest

A number of Premier League clubs have registered an interest in Inter Milan midfielder Joel Obi, according to the player’s agent.

Roma's Simone Perrotta and Inter's Joel Obi battle for possession
Joel Obi endured a frustrating 2012-13 campaign

Obi, 22, signed for the Nerazzurri from Nigerian side NEPA Lagos in the summer of 2010.

However, the Nigeria international’s 2012-13 campaign was disrupted by injury and he managed just three appearances for the Serie A club.

Both Newcastle and Sunderland have recently been linked with a move for Obi, while his agent, Renzo Contratto, has now revealed that clubs in England have enquired about the midfielder.

Contratto, though, is adamant that Inter will have the final say on whether or not his client leaves the San Siro.

"I can say that Joel is a player liked in the Premier League," he told FC Inter News. "The guy had a difficult season but now he is fine.

"He will leave for the Inter pre-season and then we'll see what the club wants to do. Obi is an Inter player and has a contract until 2017 but from now to the market's end, no one can predict what will happen."
