Gomez pleased with Inter link

Catania winger Alejandro Gomez admits interest from Inter Milan “is a source of pride”, but insists no formal has offer has yet been made to lure him to the San Siro.

Alejandro Gomez is on Inter's radar

Gomez has been linked with a number of top clubs in recent months as he enjoys a bright season with the Sicilian club. The Argentine has netted seven goals in 31 appearances this term, generating reports Inter are plotting a summer swoop for his services.

However, despite being flattered by the interest, Gomez claims he would be happy to stay with Catania, whom he joined in 2010 from San Lorenzo.

"The only things that I know are what I'm reading in the papers," Gomez told Italsportspress. "But the interest of Inter is a source of pride for me.

"But, for me, Catania is my second home. The city, the team - they embraced me when I came here."

Adding fuel to the speculation over his future, Gomez says he would prefer to remain in Italy, rather than play in another European league.

"The players that play in Italy can play anywhere, because Serie A is the most difficult in the world," he said.
