Nigeria interested in England U20 forward Ademola Lookman

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will look into the possibility of convincing England under-20 forward Ademola Lookman to pledge his international future to the African nation.

NFF official Bitrus Bewarang told the BBC that he was "excited" to see 19-year-old Lookman, whose parents are Nigerian, score on his Everton debut against Manchester City on Sunday.

Bewarang said Lookman, who joined Everton from League One side Charlton on Jan. 5, could look to follow in the footsteps of Victor Moses and Alex Iwobi, who became Nigeria internationals after representing England at youth level.

"He has Nigerian parents and we'd need to speak to him first," Bewarang said. "I saw him against Manchester City and I was excited to see a young player of Nigerian descent shine, so I thought: 'Why not?'"

He added: "We've managed to get players like Moses and Iwobi in the past and Lookman will be a great addition to the national team if we got him."

Bewarang said the decision would ultimately be down to coach Gernot Rohr and said: "I am not desperate to see this happen but we will give it a shot."
