Adrian Mutu banned for Mr Bean prank

Adrian Mutu has been banned from playing for the Romanian national side ever again after comparing coach Victor Piturca to Mr Bean.

Adrian Mutu posted this digitally altered image of coach Victor Piturca on his Facebook page.
Adrian Mutu posted this digitally altered image of coach Victor Piturca on his Facebook page.

Former Chelsea striker Mutu felt the wrath of the Romanian FA after he posted a photo on his official Facebook page, which depicted Piturca as the popular British television character played by Rowan Atkinson.

However, the authorities caught wind of Mutu's actions -- posted after he was left out of the squad for the World Cup qualifying match with Greece -- and, according to reports in the Metro, informed the player via a letter that he would not be considered for national selection again.

Mutu, 34, currently plays for French side Ajaccio in Ligue 1. The offending photo has since been removed from the site.
