Spain rally late to salvage draw at England; Italy and Germany goalless

Spain rallied with two late goals to salvage a 2-2 draw with England in a friendly at Wembley on Tuesday.

Adam Lallana opened the scoring for England from the penalty spot, the Liverpool man playing a whipped-in pass to spring Jamie Vardy in Spain's penalty area, and he was taken down by Pepe Reina with the referee pointing immediately to the spot.

Lallana stepped up and calmly fired home past Reina to put England up 1-0. It was the third goal in as many international matches for Lallana, who was subbed off minutes later for Theo Walcott after picking up what appeared to be an injury.

England seemed to be in control after doubling their lead just after the break, with Vardy timing his run onto a Jordan Henderson cross perfectly and diving to head home past a helpless Reina.

But in the 89th minute, Iago Aspas pulled one back for the visitors after running with the ball at John Stones and curling a shot into the top corner.

And the comeback was complete as Isco found an equaliser deep into stoppage time, bringing Dani Carvajal's pass down on his chest before beating Tom Heaton at his near post to stun the Wembley crowd.

Italy came close but could not find a goal against Germany in a 0-0 draw at the San Siro.

The best chance of the first half came on 25 minutes when Ciro Immobile gathered a ball from Daniele De Rossi but sent his shot over the bar.

Italy sub Federico Bernardeschi was given room in the box to shoot after a 70th-minute counter-attack but his low strike was smothered by Leno, and three minutes later Immobile curled a shot just wide.

With eight minutes to play, Italy came inches from taking the lead when Belotti's strike beat Leno but hit the post, and Ilkay Gundogan was booked for diving when he tried to steal a penalty for Germany.

France were also held to a goalless draw against Ivory Coast in Lens.

The African side came the closest to scoring in the 11th minute when Adama Traore struck the post from 25 yards, and Salomon Kalou's follow-up was ruled out for offside.

Russia beat Romania 1-0 thanks to Magomed Ozdoev's goal in the final minute of stoppage time.

Ozdoev played a ball across Dmitriy Poloz, whose shot was blocked but trickled through far enough for Ozdoev to lash home from four yards.

Northern Ireland rounded off their fine year on a losing note as a depleted Croatia became the first visiting side to win at Windsor Park in three years.

Croatia were missing Luka Modric, Ivan Rakitic and Dejan Lovre, but Mario Mandzukic opened the scoring by bundling home early on before Duje Cop finished from a corner and ex-Leicester striker Andrej Kramaric fired into the top corner in a 3-0 success.

Sam Larsson scored from a free kick on his Sweden debut in a 2-0 win at Hungary.

Larsson's free kick took a deflection as it went through the wall on the half-hour mark, before Isaac Kiese Thelin doubled the advantage after making a run from the side of the box.

Arnor Ingvi Traustason and Sverrir Ingason scored second-half goals to help Iceland win 2-0 at Malta.

Traustason opened the scoring two minutes after the break by taking advantage of a poor clearance, and Ingason put the result beyond reach with a header following a corner in the 75th minute.

Evgeniy Shakhov and Andriy Yarmolenko scored as Ukraine beat Serbia 2-0.

Roman Zozulya did the hard work on opening goal in bringing down Artem Fedetskyy's cross, and Shakhov ran onto it to score on 38 minutes.

Yarmolenko secured the result from the spot after Branislav Ivanovic conceded a penalty with three minues to play.

Czech Republic settled for a 1-1 draw at home against Denmark.

Antonin Barak provided the hosts with an opener on eight minutes when his shot from distance took a deflection off the head of defender Simon Kjaer.

But Denmark were back level before the break as Nicolai Jorgensen touched home the ball at the far post after Kjaer did well to flick on from a corner.

Austria and Slovakia played to a goalless draw, with the hosts coming closest to scoring when Lukas Hinterseer's shot was cleared off the line by Jakub Holubek in the first half.

In Africa, Bradley Grobler's second-half goal for South Africa cancelled out Clesio Bauque opener for Mozambique in a 1-1 draw, while Khalid Boutaib's brace helped Morocco overcome an early deficit to beat Togo 2-1.

Paul Were's goal gave Kenya a 1-0 win over Liberia, while Gabon and Comoros shared the spoils at 1-1 and Tunisia and Mauritania were goalless.

In Asia, Nepal beat Macau 1-0 while the games between Bahrain and Kyrgyzstan as well as Jordan and Lebanon both finished goalless.
