Germany vs. England to go ahead as planned - Football Association

The Football Association has said England's game against Germany in Berlin on Saturday will go ahead as planned despite the deadly explosions in Belgium.

Tuesday's bombings raised fresh concerns over the prospect of football matches being targeted by terrorists, following the attempts to bomb the Stade de France when Germany played France during November's attacks in Paris.

Germany's team hotel in Paris had been evacuated because of a bomb threat prior to the attacks, and their friendly with Netherlands the following week was cancelled shortly before it was set to begin because of the serious threat of an attack at the stadium in Hanover.

Nonetheless, the FA said it is confident that there is sufficient security and Saturday's friendly at the Olympiastadion will proceed.

"Our plans have not changed," an FA spokesperson said.

"There have been no changes made to our itinerary and we have been in constant contact with the German authorities.

"Our security measures are already very stringent."

England also host Netherlands at Wembley on Tuesday.
