Manchester United's Anthony Martial on crutches after France friendly

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial left Wembley Stadium on crutches after France's 2-0 defeat to England in Tuesday's friendly.

Martial played 67 minutes for France and the £36 million forward was seen with his left foot heavily bandaged as he left the stadium.

France coach Didier Deschamps played down any significant injury concerns.

"He was in quite a bit of pain after the match. He got a kick in the penalty area," Deschamps said. "I think it's just a knock rather than anything else to the top of his foot."

It's another injury scare for United, who also saw midfielder Michael Carrick carried off on a stretcher during England's 2-0 defeat to Spain last week with an ankle injury.

Martial was replaced by Antoine Griezmann in the 67th minute of the defeat to England in London because of the injury.

Martial has scored five goals since his big-money move from Monaco and with United already short of strikers, they cannot afford to lose the Frenchman for a long time.
